Wallpaper size for every phone

Why the exact size matters

A phone shows its wallpaper pixel for pixel. An image smaller than the screen is enlarged and turns soft, and one with a different shape is cropped to fill the screen, often cutting off the part you wanted to see.

A wallpaper made at the screen's native resolution, the size on each phone's page, fills it exactly: nothing is enlarged and nothing important is cut off.

Aspect ratios at a glance

• 19.5:9: most Samsung Galaxy phones and every recent iPhone, such as 1080 × 2340, 1440 × 3120 and 1179 × 2556.
• 20:9: most Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO and Motorola phones and many other Android phones, such as 1080 × 2400 and 1220 × 2712.
• Close to square: the inner screens of foldable phones, which need a wallpaper of their own.

Lock screen, home screen and scrolling

On almost every phone the lock screen and the home screen use the same size. A few launchers slide the wallpaper as you swipe between home screen pages; for those, an image twice the width of the screen gives it room to move.

iPhones don't scroll the wallpaper, but Perspective Zoom enlarges it a little so it can move as you tilt the phone, which trims the edges.

Your phone isn't listed?

Use the screen check on this page from your phone: it reads the resolution of the device you are holding. You can also look up the display resolution in the spec sheet on the maker's website and make the wallpaper at exactly that size.
