Every symbol on this page is a Unicode character, the same kind of character as a letter or a number. That is why you can paste ♥ or → into a message, a bio or a document without any image or special app: the phone simply draws it with one of its fonts.
Some symbols, such as ☀ or ♈, can appear as a flat black shape on one phone and as a colorful emoji on another. Both are the same character; each system chooses its own way to draw it.
Usernames, email addresses and passwords usually accept only plain letters and numbers, so keep symbols for display names and text.
Screen readers announce symbols by name, so "★★★★★" may be read as "black star" five times, and a kaomoji can turn into a long list of strange words. Use symbols as decoration, not to carry meaning on their own, and avoid long lines of them in text that matters.
Tap or click it. It is copied right away and a short message confirms it. Then paste it with a long press on your phone, or Ctrl+V on a computer.
Each phone and app draws symbols with its own fonts. Some show a symbol as a color emoji, others as a simple black shape. The character itself is the same.
The device has no font that includes that symbol. It happens with rarer characters on older phones. A more common symbol from the same category will usually work.
Often, yes. Many games accept Unicode symbols in nicknames, while others allow only letters and numbers. If the game rejects the name, try a simpler symbol such as ★ or ♥.
Kaomoji are Japanese-style faces made from characters, read without turning your head, like (◕‿◕) or ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ. They work in any app that accepts text.
