Looking for a KWGT alternative? Ready-made widgets without an editor

KWGT is one of the best-known widget apps on Android, and for good reason: it is a full editor that lets you build almost any widget. But not everyone wants to design widgets from scratch. If you would rather pick a finished widget and adjust it in a few taps, a ready-made widget app may suit you better. Here is the difference, honestly.

What KWGT is good at

KWGT (Kustom Widget Maker) is a widget editor. You start from a blank canvas or a starter skin and build the layout yourself: text, shapes, images, layers, colours and touch actions. Many designers also publish their own widget packs for it.

If you enjoy designing, want total control over every pixel, or already use widget packs you love, an editor like KWGT is a great choice.

When ready-made widgets suit you better

  • You want a good-looking home screen today, without learning an editor.
  • You want widgets that already work, such as prayer times, live football or a Pomodoro timer, rather than building them from data sources.
  • You want your widgets in Arabic, with Arabic digits, Arabic fonts and the Hijri date, designed for Arabic from the start.
  • You want new designs to keep arriving without importing packs.

How Wadiget works

Wadiget takes the ready-made route. It has more than 250 finished widgets, and every one can be changed with a live preview: glass, solid or gradient, colours, corners, border, size (up to 10 sizes, from 1×1 to 4×5), 10 Arabic and 7 Latin fonts, Arabic or Latin digits and 12 or 24 hour time.

There are no template files and no second app to install. New widgets are designed in the studio and can appear in the app without an update from Google Play.

Side by side

  • Getting started: an editor starts from a canvas or a skin; Wadiget starts from a finished widget.
  • Control: an editor lets you place every element; Wadiget lets you change the look, size, fonts and colours of each design.
  • Built-in features: Wadiget includes prayer times with Azan, the Hijri date, tasbih, live football, Pomodoro, to-do lists, notes, habits and expenses as ready widgets.
  • Arabic: most Wadiget widgets come in Arabic and English, with hand-drawn Thuluth calligraphy for the weekday.

Plenty of people use both: an editor for one-off designs, and ready-made widgets for everyday tools.

Questions

Do I need KWGT to use Wadiget?

No. Wadiget works on its own: you pick a ready widget, change it inside the app and add it to your home screen.

Can I use KWGT and Wadiget together?

Yes. Widgets from different apps can sit on the same home screen. Give them similar colours and corners so they look like one design.

Is Wadiget free?

Yes, Wadiget is free to download and most of its widgets are free. Wadiget Pro opens the Pro widgets, clock faces, wallpapers and football, and removes ads from the app.
